Iron box Augsburg

An old merchant's chest, probably from Augsburg with painting, deer pictures inside and a lock behind it. These heavy chests were fireproof and indestructuble. An original key opens the lock in the lid, hidden under a sheet of iron. This is a rarity with wrought ironwork that artisan blacksmiths bow down to even today. Blacksmithing and age give this chest a lasting value for many centuries. An absolutely unique piece with museum significance.
